After a bit of a chase where this crab displayed its characteristic sideways movement, the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) pilots were able to get ROV Deep Discoverer close enough for this great shot of the crab’s mouthparts. Seen during a Deep Connections 2019 expedition dive on a previously unexplored region of the Scotian Shelf off Canada at a depth of approximately 350 meters (1,150 feet).
