During Dive 02 of the 2023 Shakedown + EXPRESS West Coast Exploration expedition, we saw this hagfish attempting to tie itself into a knot at a depth of 970 meters (3,182 feet). This is a known behavior for these very flexible fish and is thought to be a mechanism for escaping tricky situations (such as having the lights of a remotely operated vehicle shined in an environment that is typically encased in darkness).
