November 4, 2020: Brisingid Sea Stars

During a dive on a ridge extending to the southeast of Castellano Seamount south of Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument in the Pacific Ocean, the remotely operated vehicle Deep Discoverer came upon a large aggregation of brisingid sea stars.

This video highlights the amazing diversity of beautiful and fragile coral and ancient organisms seen during the 2016 Hohonu Moana: Exploring Deep Waters off Hawaiʻi expedition that have occupied the Monument for hundreds to thousands of years.
