
Did you know that, despite the word fish in their common names, jellyfish aren’t actually fish? In fact, they lack a spine and lack a brain — does this make them good or bad candidates as Valentines?!
Here’s a red jellyfish for you on Valentine’s Day, seen during the first dive of the 2016 Deepwater Wonders of Wake: Exploring the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument expedition, on a seamount at a depth of approximately 2,300 meters (7,545 feet).
