When in doubt, map it out! Rough seas meant that the remotely operated vehicles could not be safely deployed on September 13, 2019, during the Deep Connections 2019: Exploring Atlantic Canyons and Seamounts of the United States and Canada expedition. Not to waste any time at sea, the team instead conducted all-day mapping operations in a previously unmapped area north of the intended dive site, collecting valuable data that could be applied to planning future dives.
