This rattail fish was observed while exploring Shostakovich Seamount, the northernmost point of the exploration of the Musicians Seamounts conducted during the Deep-Sea Symphony expedition. Shostakovich Seamount is also the oldest seamount within the Musician Seamount chain. We found it to harbor a high-density coral community along with a diversity of fish.
