Co-chief scientist Erik Cordes and graduate student Luke McCartin set up the high-volume eDNA filter which, once attached to remotely operated vehicle Global Explorer, is able to filter approximately 50 liters of water through a specialized pump in real time, enabling scientists to sample the water column during a single dive.
