Which Came First?
Belonging to their own phylum (Ctenophora) ctenophores, or comb jellies, have eight rows of cilia that look like combs, hence the common name. These combs propel the animal through the water, a much different type of motion than that of a jelly. These animals were seen during Dive 02 of the second Voyage to the Ridge 2022 expedition, while we were exploring the water column.
