During during Dive 08 of the 2019 Southeastern U.S. Deep-sea Exploration, we observed this blind lobster (Acanthacaris caeca) waving a small piece of organic tissue with its claw, perhaps in an attempt to lure in prey. This was behavior that our lead scientists had not observed previously and provides yet another valuable glimpse into deep-sea animal behavior.
