Snipe Eel
This snipe eel was seen cruising through the water column during the Windows to the Deep 2021 Dive 03 midwater transect at a depth of 900 meters (2,953 feet). Snipe eels have tiny, sharp teeth that are pointed backwards. They catch prey by swimming with their mouths partially open and tangling the antennae of unwary shrimp in their sharp teeth.
