We got an up close and personal look at this female skate in the genus Bathyraja during Dive 09 of the 2023 Shakedown + EXPRESS West Coast Exploration expedition. Seen at a depth of approximately 818 meters (2,684 feet). Watch closely and you can see the skate breathing, as its gills rise and fall with the intake and release of water.
