This octopod (Muusoctopus sp.) was observed at 2,800 meters (9,185 feet) during Dive 05 of the Seascape Alaska 3 expedition stretching out its arms. There was some discussion amongst participating scientists as to what this behavior could indicate and whether it might be predatory or defensive.
