Carnivorous Sponges

Carnivorous sponges (Cladorhiza bathycrinoides) cover a boulder observed on the seafloor during Dive 05 of the Seascape Alaska 3 expedition at a depth of 2,800 meters (9,185 feet). Upon closer inspection, it appeared that several of the sponges had prey items stuck onto them, just waiting to be consumed.
